Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), Ghana’s top telecom provider, has once again targeted its stingy and disruptive consumers. The well-known telecommunications company declared and informed its clients via SMS that purchases made through Mobile Money will be used to deduct any outstanding airtime loans on their network as well as airtime purchases.

It appears that the network passed this regulation in an effort to penalize users who, after borrowing substantial amounts of airtime and data bundles from them, refuse to repay them.

It has become a norm for many Ghanaians to avert paying of their outstanding airtime debts and activating data bundles throw using other mobile numbers or even visiting a mobile money vendor to forward the bundles straight instead of sending it directly as airtime.

MTN has not only started deducting owned airtime from data bundles but has also stared disconnecting the mobile numbers of their customers who have failed to register their sim cards with their ECOWAS Card (Ghana Card).

Users who haven’t registered their sim cards and gone through the biometric process are under the risk of losing their phone numbers, unable to make calls or browse the internet.

Many people attributes their inability to register their sim cards is due to the long quee they meet whenever they go to the Mobile Telecommunications Network office.

A simple way has been made available by the Government of Ghana and this method can be done simply on one’s own with just a stable internet connection and your National Identify Card (Ghana Card).

To do this, simply visit the Google PlayStore or Apple Store and download the “GH Sim Registration App”, install it and follow the simple procedure to verify and gain back all your sim card benefits.
