Food seller arrested for stabbing ex-boyfriend during fight over her new lover

Seun Sola, a 39-year-old food vendor, was arrested in Ondo State for stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the stomach after an argument.

After she informed him their relationship was ended, the victim, named as Lomi Alara Akinbinu, reportedly jumped on the defendant and began hitting her.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, the two lovers’ relationship deteriorated when the single mother of twins began getting attention from a new boyfriend.

According to a source in the region, the victim went to the suspect’s residence in Ondo West Local Government’s Iyalaje market area in the early hours of that day, saw her twin children, gave them N500, and then departed.

The victim returned to the residence in the evening to find Sola and her new partner, according to the source. She told him to go since she wasn’t interested in him anymore.

Akinbinu was enraged by the event and wanted the N500 he had given the twins back, insisting that he would not leave without it.

Sola said she reimbursed the money, but the two former lovers got into a quarrel, and the guy was stabbed in the stomach.

“In the afternoon, my ex-boyfriend came to my home and offered my twins 500 naira for feeding.” “He came back to my home in the evening and stated he would stay the night at my place,” the suspect said.

“However, I informed him that I am no longer interested in him.” Then he asked for the money he had given my twins, which I promptly handed him. Suddenly, he began thrashing me.

“He hit me because he met my current boyfriend with me when he arrived to my place.” He became enraged and began to beat me. So, when I saw he had overpowered me, I stabbed him in the stomach with a knife.”

While the victim was brought to the Trauma Centre for treatment, the culprit was apprehended and charged in court.
